Bowling alley Introduce
Nestled within the extensive recreational complex of the Villa Roma Resort and Conference Center, the Bowling Alley in Callicoon, NY, offers a charming, classic, and affordable bowling experience in the heart of the Catskills. More than just a standalone venue, this 8-lane facility serves as a vital component of the resort’s vast array of on-site activities, ensuring there is always fun to be had, regardless of the New York weather.
The bowling alley embraces an atmosphere of old-school recreation and casual fun. Many patrons are drawn to its nostalgic simplicity, enjoying the energetic environment where "Music was pumping" and the scoring is done by hand—a classic touch that differentiates it from automated, high-tech venues. Customers frequently appreciate the affordability, noting that the cost per game (around $6) is very reasonable, often accompanied by complimentary or discounted shoe rentals for a truly budget-friendly outing.
As part of the Villa Roma ecosystem, the bowling alley caters particularly well to families and groups, including those staying across the street at the resort. The staff is noted for being "nice" and helpful, readily assisting when equipment issues, such as a lane getting stuck, occasionally arise. This high level of service ensures that technical hiccups do not significantly detract from the fun. The bowling alley is also a key feature in the resort’s popular Birthday Party Packages, demonstrating its strong appeal for hosting celebrations.
While the atmosphere is beloved for its classic charm, some customers have suggested that the facility could benefit from a renovation, particularly in terms of equipment like the bowling shoes, which could use replacement. However, the overall sentiment remains positive: it's a great place to "have the place to ourselves," enjoy cheap fun, and unwind with family, whether you are a resort guest or a local looking for an unpretentious, lively bowling experience in the Catskills region of New York.

The Bowling Alley is located on the grounds of the Villa Roma Resort and Conference Center at 335 Villa Roma Rd, Callicoon, NY 12723, USA. This address places it directly within the resort’s recreational complex, making it highly convenient for resort guests and an easy drive for residents in the surrounding Sullivan County area.
As part of a large resort facility, access is generally straightforward. The venue benefits from a wheelchair accessible parking lot, which supports the resort's commitment to accommodating guests with mobility needs across its numerous facilities. Given its location within a multi-story resort, the overall building is wheelchair accessible, though guests should check with the resort staff for the most direct accessible route to the 8-lane bowling facility itself.
Hours of operation are designed to complement the resort's activity schedule, often being available throughout the day and into the evening. Since the bowling alley is an integrated part of the resort's daily activities, it's advisable for local New York users to call the main resort number to confirm open bowling times, especially outside of peak seasons or during major group events.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had the place to ourselves, it was a blast. Music was pumping. Hand-scoring was classic. Bowling was cheap ($6 a person a game. Usually $3 for shoe rentals but they were free the day we went!). Altogether would recommend.
May 24 · Eli HechtMy family and I were staying at the Villa Roma right across the street and we came over to do some bowling. Our lane (Lane 4) kept getting stuck but the nice employee didn't mind helping! It was a good experience and I will come again. All of the shoes need to be replaced though. Whole bowling alley should get a renovation too.
March 04 · sl_uzSo there is a handful of alleys. It was just my family and a couple attendants. The lane was okay. Their old school, not Electronic scoring. We had to try to remember how to score a spare. Lol. Some of the shoes could be replaced, but they work. Plenty of balls to pick from. It's very well lit. Some bowling alleys are just too dark. NO CREDIT CARDS. They take cash.
