The Gutter Bar LIC Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking a vibrant and authentically cool spot in Long Island City (LIC) that blends a classic bar experience with retro entertainment, The Gutter Bar LIC is the premier destination. As an outpost of the popular Brooklyn original, this Queens location successfully captures a casual, trendy, and notably low-key vibe that attracts a diverse crowd. It is much more than just a bar; it is a full-fledged social hub featuring vintage bowling lanes, fun bar games, and a full kitchen, making it an ideal place to hang out for a few hours or celebrate a special occasion.
The atmosphere at The Gutter Bar LIC is intentionally nostalgic, designed to be reminiscent of an old-school bowling alley. The space features eight vintage hardwood lanes with classic screens and mid-90s software, providing a unique contrast to the venue's modern-day status as a popular neighborhood haunt. The bar itself is expansive, offering plenty of seating and featuring television screens often tuned to live sports, allowing patrons to choose their desired level of engagement, whether it's throwing strikes or just chilling with a drink.
The Gutter’s commitment to quality is immediately apparent in its offerings. The bar is widely known for having a 'great beer selection,' featuring 24 taps with rotating American craft beers, along with specialty cocktails, wine, and hard liquor. The food menu, often described as 'pub fare,' complements the action with simple, delicious options like loaded hot dogs and popcorn, perfect for snacking while you bowl or play pinball. This blend of quality drinks, tasty food, and engaging activities ensures there’s something for everyone.
Importantly, The Gutter Bar LIC actively cultivates an inclusive environment, proudly identifying as LGBTQ+ friendly and a Transgender safespace. However, potential visitors should note that as a walk-in-focused venue, the bowling lanes are first-come, first-served, and waiting times can sometimes be long, especially on weekends. While the staff is generally fast and professional, there have been occasional reports concerning operational issues with the vintage lanes and communication about waiting times, underscoring the importance of patience and perhaps calling ahead during busy times.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Cool place to hang for a drink or two. We didn’t get to bowl when we came after drinking at Fifth Hammer since we wanted to just chill and play some arcade games. There’s not many but if you like pinball, there’s 4 or so machines you can play from (about $5 per 6 plays). I played Doctor Who which was fun but a bit hard at the same time. We ordered some beers/cocktails that were okay along with some loaded hot dogs and popcorn. It wasn’t that busy but would like to visit again to go bowling.
January 20 · Nicole KimWas here last night for the unlimited bowling after 11 p.m. and to celebrate a birthday, but they gave us a lane that wasn’t working properly. After being asked to stop playing for a while, we went outside, played some pinball, and came back to play bowling, but the same lady started screaming and giving weird vibes, demanding we all give her attention when she spoke, and saying that we shouldn’t play if our lane wasn’t working properly. But they never offered a different lane or explained that it wasn’t working — they just expected us to sit and wait until they fixed it at 1 a.m., which doesn’t make sense, so we just had to leave early. I’ve been to all Gutter locations and this is the only one I wouldn’t come back! sorry
October 31 · Maria Isabel Caicedo CI recently revisited one of my favorite hangouts, and it was just as enjoyable as ever! My previous visit was for a friend’s birthday, and we had a blast, so I couldn’t resist going back for more.During our last outing, we had a large group and wisely made a reservation in advance. This time, I decided to try a walk-in on a Thursday around 6 pm. Even then, there was a bit of a wait, which shows just how popular this place is.Fortunately, I managed to get a 30-minute window between reservations and got some playtime. Instead of paying $10 per game, we opted for the $40 slot that allowed us 30 minutes of play. In that half-hour, we managed to fit in two games, making it a much better deal than paying for individual games.Besides the main attractions, they also have an array of arcade games, a whole area with booths for sitting, and a bar! The atmosphere here is always vibrant and perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or even office get-togethers. I highly recommend it for a fantastic and fun-filled experience!
June 21 · Vidhi PatelI went to the Gutter Bar for a big party, the day before a wedding. It is a big place with a definite atmosphere. You have to know it is there, the outside look gives no hint about what it inside, when I got there I double checked the address because I thought I was in the wrong place, being sort of in the middle of nowhere in a not-so-great neighbourhood. It was a great place for a party, noisy and fun. I am terrible at bowling (probably set a negative record there) but I had a good time.
June 28 · M S (MTV)It’s $25 an hour to bowl for half an hour and $50 for a full hour. Get at least an hour that will get you a game and a half. Shoe rental is 3 bucks. You will have a blast here. Only con is it may take a while before you get to bowl.I had no idea they had a bowling ally in LIC. The bar has a ton of local craft and big name beers on tap.We had to wait to bowl since we just poped in.They have a take a number system and dmv number but unlike the dmv there is a sick bar and comfy atmosphere.90s nostalgia: The bowling ally lames work great, it’s an old school lane but in amazing condition. It uses software from the mid 90s to operate but it worked really well. They show funny little vids in between bowls on the monitor with cartoon ball and pics with PlayStation like graphics.
