Westbrook Lanes Family Bowling Center Introduce
For generations of New Jersey families, **Westbrook Lanes Family Bowling Center** in Brooklawn has been the quintessential local spot for recreational fun, competitive sport, and community gathering. Since its establishment in 1966, this venue, which is family-owned and operated, has proudly served Brooklawn and the wider South Jersey area, including neighboring communities like Deptford, West Deptford, and Runnemede. It offers a classic, friendly bowling experience that prioritizes affordability and a welcoming atmosphere, making it an excellent choice for a spontaneous family outing, a casual night with friends, or serious league competition.
Westbrook Lanes is more than just a place to roll a ball; it functions as a comprehensive recreation center featuring a full-service **bar**, a **video arcade**, and a commitment to hosting large groups and events. It operates as a smoke-free environment, which is frequently appreciated by families and provides a healthier space for its numerous youth programs. The center prides itself on being a traditional, community-focused alley, offering great prices that ensure a fun outing won't break the family budget, a significant advantage for New Jersey locals.
While the center maintains a classic bowling alley feel, the management has demonstrated a commitment to providing modern entertainment, notably through its popular **Cosmic Bowling**—a high-energy experience complete with laser lights, great music, and special effects that transform the lanes into a vibrant, nightclub-style setting. This blend of classic charm and modern features ensures Westbrook Lanes remains a beloved and highly frequented destination for diverse patrons across the South Jersey area. However, some customers have noted that certain areas, such as the scoring system, are older and that staffing can sometimes be limited, leading to mixed experiences with wait times, particularly for food service. The owners have responded to feedback by acknowledging the value of upgrades, which suggests a commitment to ongoing improvement for their dedicated New Jersey clientele.
The center works to accommodate all guests, and its accessibility features are noteworthy, though some patrons with limited mobility have advised that entry via the bar side may be required to utilize the ramp. The facility offers dedicated amenities for comfort and ease of access.
- Wheelchair accessible entrance (may require entry through the bar)
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot
- A family/handicap accessible restroom is available upon request (though it may be kept locked when not in use).

For serious bowlers in the area, the inclusion of a premier **Pro Shop** run by a USBC Hall of Famer and access to certified coaching offers a level of professional service unmatched by many local competitors. For recreational visitors, the combination of **Cosmic Bowling** for high-energy nights and bumper lanes for kids provides diverse entertainment options. The full-service bar, **Joe 300 Lounge**, adds to its appeal as a complete adult social venue.
However, potential visitors should manage expectations regarding certain facility aspects. Some customer feedback points to an **antiquated scoring system** and occasional issues with **slow snack bar service**, which could detract from time maximization during hourly play. Furthermore, the handling of accessibility features, specifically the locked handicap restroom, has been noted as an area needing improvement for patrons with limited mobility, though staff are generally quick to assist when asked. Despite these operational drawbacks, the owner's responsive dialogue with customers and ongoing effort to update and maintain the classic alley demonstrate a strong dedication to the local New Jersey community. For a budget-friendly, fun, and communal bowling experience in South Jersey, Westbrook Lanes remains a beloved and highly recommended choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I love this place! The bowling is great, and it's a really nice bowling alley too, but one of the employees really isn't great. I had a disappointing experience with one of the staff members in particular. Me and my group got to the desk, only to wait 15 minutes while not even being acknowledged by the lady behind the desk. I understand that she was on the phone, but couldn't she at least have said I'll be right with you guys? So after waiting 15 minutes, she still didn't acknowledge that we were there. Instead, she just started playing games on her phone! Finally, another staff member came over and checked us in. I will return some day and hopefully have a better experience.
December 26 · Lucas ルーカスWe met there with people from work and had mixed experiences. First, I have severely limited mobility and need an electric scooter to get around. That being said those that need a ramp need to enter through the bar to use the ramp. When I entered I needed the bathroom and although they have a family/handicap bathroom it was locked. They are so understaffed that I was forced to use the regular bathroom which was very difficult. Before I left I had to use it again and found a worker who unlocked the handicap bathroom for me.A few other things include an antiquated scoring system, the snack bar is not that great and it took forever to get snacks and drinks. I think next time we will go to the more updated bowling alley in Washington Township.* In reference to the response to my review I would like to clarify a few things. First, in reference to the handicap bathroom I needed a bathroom really bad when we first got there and there were so many people waiting for service I was forced to try and use the regular bathroom which is in no way handicap accessible. There has to be a better way then to keep the handicap bathroom locked. That being said and I should have said it in the review, when I asked on my way out the person unlocked the door for me quickly. In reference to the wait for snacks and drinks. I didn’t time it but two separate groups went to get snacks and drinks and it literally took the length of time that it took a full game to be played before they came back. I don’t know where they went to get it whether it was the bar or snack area but after reading this my husband said that it was the food that was slow, the bar was fast. Finally, in reference to the scoring system, again when you pay for a two hour window to play you want to maximize the time. It took a really long time to put names in. The system is slow. I’m glad to hear that updates are coming.I’m not knocking a small business. I give the facts as I experience them and all of my reviews are always written from the perspective of a person with limited mobility. There are not enough detailed reviews that address the needs of someone like me. After that it’s all about the experience overall addressing common areas that people utilize. As far as going to another location. Again, I do not differentiate based on whether it’s a small business or not, if we need to pay a little more to have a better experience then it would be worth it to do so. I’m glad to hear that Westbrook is more economical. One of the things that I didn’t mention was the fact that we were in a lane where there was a big air conditioning vent that just dumped forced air right down on the chairs. It wasn’t very comfortable and no one could sit in one of the seats. This is what I mean by upgrade, it’s not a knock, it’s a fact. It was very uncomfortable especially for me who could only sit there with everyone and if I wanted to be with my group I was right in the path of that. Thank you for responding to my review.
June 01 · Cat LadyMy favorite bowling spot hands down. Feels fresh out of the 90s. Bar is full of good energy and pool tables are $1 a game. Been coming here for years and I've yet to find a place that comes close.
October 05 · Ryan RiveraNice people and well run establishment but the only critical point i have is they won't share their wifi password. This is 2025 and the whole world has wifi. Invest some of the money we pay for lineage and she and get a strong enough wifi system for your customers, we deserve it..
September 08 · Derek GatersIt's always an amazingly fun time!! They have the best prices in the tri state area and have more lanes than almost any other bowling alley. They are always trying to make the place better, and most of the employees are top-notch. If you ever have a problem, you can actually email the owner, and he will actually get back to you and try and solve the problem as best as he can himself. That's a rarity these days. Give Westbrook a chance, you won't regret it, I promise!
