Gil Hodges Lanes Introduce
For decades, Gil Hodges Lanes has been a cherished institution in the Mill Basin area of Brooklyn, serving generations of New Yorkers as a consistent and reliable spot for bowling, socializing, and fun. Known for its traditional atmosphere and long history, this venue offers a quintessential neighborhood bowling experience. It’s a place where bowling teams, friends, and families have been gathering for over 30 years to “pass time and have a good time,” according to longtime patrons.
While the ownership and specific name have evolved over time—the location was previously known as Strike 10 Lanes—the heart of the offering remains the same: a dedicated bowling center with a focus on providing quality lanes and supplementary entertainment. The spacious layout accommodates both competitive league play and casual open bowling. The venue is more than just bowling; it's a complete recreational hub that includes a sizeable arcade area featuring popular games like air hockey, car driving, basketball, and motorcycle simulators, ensuring there are diverse entertainment options for all ages.
The pricing structure is simple and designed for value, with an hourly rate for lane rental that includes shoes and unlimited bowling, especially attractive for groups looking to maximize their playtime. This focus on an affordable, core entertainment experience is what draws many New Yorkers to this long-standing establishment. The staff is often praised for their generosity and polite demeanor, with the front desk employees being acknowledged for being "generous to add extra time to games," contributing to a positive customer experience.
As a key community feature, Gil Hodges Lanes caters specifically to families, making it an excellent choice for kids' birthday parties. This positioning ensures it is a reliable, local venue where parents can easily plan a celebration centered around a fun, active experience.

December 27 · mike dimaggiWell Mannered employees. Front desk employees are generous to add extra time to games.
July 16 · Nick P 626A bit disappointed and frustrated by the misinformation on their website. It explicitly states it is walk in only and no reservations are taken; however, when I went with my family I was told the opposite— that I needed a reservation.Rather than take accountability for the misleading information on their site and for the inconvenience experienced, I was given the excuse of “we’re not technologically savvy.” I think management should find a way to make sure they have accurate information on their site so as not to inconvenience anyone traveling with hopes to bowl.Just be aware if you do plan to come, they DO take reservations and in fact it seems it would even be highly encouraged you make one or else you will be asked to wait hours for a open lane or may just have to find something else to do.
